Presentation Modes

There are five types of presenters; the keynote speaker, plenary speakers and competing presentation through paper, poster, and short-video presentations.

The keynote and plenary speakers are heads of national government agencies and non-government organizations, and professionals of national stature. The competing paper presenters will have three forms of delivery: those presenting orally (research paper), posters, and audio-video (short film/documentary).

Paper presentation

All accepted papers are encouraged to present orally or physically during the conference proper. If the presenter is unable to present physically during the conference, the presenter will have to prepare a 10-minute pre-recorded video of their presentation containing their introduction, objectives, and methodology. The rest of the video shall discuss the important outputs of the research.

Paper Entry Guidelines

  1. Abstracts should have a maximum of 250 words. Identify the paper’s keywords, separated by a semicolon, and include the name(s) and title(s) of the author(s), institutional affiliation(s) and official email address(es) at the bottom of the page.
  2. The accepted papers are categorized into the two tracks, namely: (1) Health, Research and Poverty and (2) Technology, Innovation and Poverty.
  3. After finalization of accepted papers, schedule and order of presentation will be posted on the website.

Best Paper

Selection of best paper in the 2023 iPovCon will be guided by the following guidelines and criteria for judging:

    1. Research must be aligned within the two tracks of the conference.
    2. Electronic copies of the completed papers must be submitted online to the official email address of the conference with following contents:
        • Title
        • Author(s) and affiliation
        • Email addresses of author(s)
        • Abstract (250 words)
        • Key words (5)
        • Contents
          • Introduction
          • Objectives of the study
          • Methodology
            • Results and Discussions
            • Conclusions and Recommendations
            • References (APA 6th edition)
    1. The papers will be judged based on the soundness of their content. The entries will be shortlisted for pre-judging. The judges will identify the top five papers from all the strands, which will then qualify for the final judging and presentation on the conference proper. The resulting qualifiers will be judged as 1st, 2nd, and 3rd placers.
    2. Best papers should earn at least 85% to qualify for the award.
    3. Certificates shall be issued and named after the author/s stipulated in the full paper.
    4. The decision of the panel of judges shall be final and unappealable. The rating sheets are considered personal notes of the panel of judges and shall not be given to any contestant or requesting party.
    5. Judging shall be based on the following criteria:

Best Paper Presentation

  1. The pre-recorded presentations will be collected on or before Sept 19, 2022, and will be subject for webinar simulation to ensure a smooth flow of events at the actual conference.
  2. Presenters will be given a maximum of 10 minutes to present their papers in their identified strand during the parallel sessions. After every 5 presentations, Q&A will commence.
  3. The best paper presenters will be chosen from each strand.
  4. Best paper presenter should earn at least 85% to qualify for the award.
  5. The decision of the panel of judges shall be final and unappealable. The rating sheets are considered personal notes of the panel of judges and shall not be given to any contestant or requesting party.

Poster Submission

  • Define the purpose of your paper. Knowing the purpose will help you decide what to include and not to include.
  • During the conference, make sure that your poster is catchy to attract the readers, more importantly, to attract the evaluator if winning the competition is a target.
  • The title is important and is a good way to sell your work. The title usually is the only thing the conference attendee sees before they reach your poster. The title must let the audience read your poster. Titles must be readable.
  • Many of the rules in writing a good paper also applies to posters.
  • Layout and Format are critical. Please make sure that your poster does not look like a full paper with so much content. Instead, try to select the most important aspects of your paper and emphasized it in your poster. Avoid being too textual and too visual. Find balance on what you present.
  • Content is important but keep it concise. Use appropriate text style and size. Use high-end good quality images or figure to illustrate complex sets of numbers or texts not to impress viewers with complex artistry. Have a clear and obvious set of conclusions, after the abstract; this is where the viewers’ eyes will wander.
  • Identified panel of judges shall evaluate all entries using the following criteria:

Short Film Guidelines and Submission

  • The film should not be longer than 15 minutes and shorter than 5 minutes. 
  • The short film/documentary aims to tell a story using audio-visual format. In making your video, make sure you have a script or a storyline to follow. In writing your script, you may refer to the following rules via this link.
  • The identified panel of judges shall evaluate all entries using the following criteria:

1. Creativity/Originality

30 Points

Entries must be the researcher’s own work, the researcher’s own words, and may include personal experiences and thoughtful observations.  Videos must reflect that the researcher has carefully examined and thought about the theme

Entries must be based on research findings of the author or from others with citation, preferably with some original contribution from the authors.

 

2. Message Content

50 points

-Does the researcher apply/address the theme of the conference?

-Is the video relevant

-How compelling the video

-Is the video presented in a logical sequence

 

3. Technical Organization

20 pts

How will the video produce in regards o continuity,0020timing, camera operation, sound quality, editing and adherence to time limit of 5 minutes
